The seven properties—Captiva Seaclusion, Hideaway Captiva,
Captiva Treetops, Little Treehouse, Sunny Side, Captiva Pines, and The Gate House—are collectively known as the "Captiva Sunrise Property". They are contiguously located on 3.5 acres, and can be rented
individually for family vacations or communally for larger events.
This is a wonderful area for children and pets. Bring your kayak or
canoe and enjoy the wonders of calm Roosevelt Channel and Pine Island
Sound. Explore Buck Key, go to lunch by boat or visit other areas of
interest that Captiva has to offer, all possible from the properties
listed below. A kayak and canoe rack is available for renters use.
Briefly, a summary of each follows.
Hideaway Captiva - Sleeps 10 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, heated pool and screened lanai, direct waterfront with shared boat dock and a 2 car garage. Great fishing off dock and short walk to the Gulf.
Captiva Seaclusion - Sleeps 8 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, working fireplace, heated pool, hot tub and screened lanai, 2 car garage. Short walk to the Roosevelt Channel and the Gulf of Mexico.
Captiva Treetops - Sleeps 4 1 bedroom, 1 bath, working fireplace, and deck. Cottage is on pilings. Roosevelt Channel and thevbeaches of Captiva are only a short distance away.
Little Treehouse - Sleeps 2 A fully furnished efficiency with a double bed, cooking facilities, and a private bathroom with a stall shower. There is also cable TV, a cold water outside shower and large private deck for sunning and relaxing.
Sunny Side - Sleeps 2 A neat little place with charm and you won't have to spend an arm and a leg on lodging. Have a canoe or kayak? Sunny Side comes with a canoe & kayak rack!
Captiva Pines - Sleeps 4 This 2 bedroom property is fully equipped to make your vacation a simple pleasure! The paneled interior is old Captiva, and our past renters request Captiva Pines over and over. Easy walk to Roosevelt Channel and the Captiva beaches.
The Gate House - Sleeps 2 This restored property is just the way Captiva was 60+ years ago, except you have lights, A/C, and fresh island water, a modern bathroom and refrigeration unlike the days of old when we had only sulpher water, kerosene lamps and just screened windows. You will love this wonderful little place that talks to you about the days of old.
The Captiva Sunrise Property is one of the few original
Captiva properties left undeveloped on the island of Captiva. The owner
insists on privacy for each of the homes and wildlife thrives throughout
the acreage.
The original houses stay cool in summer and warm in
winter because they are on the ground not built on stilts, which makes
them wheelchair accessible. Elevated (above ground) houses allow the
ambient air to surround them thereby causing the hot air of summer to heat
the house on top, bottom and all sides causing the house to assume the
surrounding outside temperature. The same holds true for cold days in
winter. However, if the home is on the ground the warm earth keeps the
house warm in winter and cools it in summer.
